Sunday Katie and I got up way late since we where out until about 4 or 5am. Katie said she saw the sun come up. We ate at a dinner close to her place. We then made plans to meet up with our cousin Michael and his girlfriend Julie at a Thai food place in Queens that Katie really likes. To kill time again Katie and I just hung out at Prospect Park. It’s a very large and nice park here in Brooklyn. Again New Yorkers love their parks! It was good to see Michael again and catch up. I don’t get to see my cousins that much. The Thai food place is awesome. I’ll have to get the name from Katie. After dinner we went to an Irish bar that was dead and then a Texas themed bar of all places. They had Shinnerbock and Lone Star! We didn’t stay out that long since everybody was tired except for Katie, she’s a trooper.

Here is a picture of a weird restaurant. Chinese food and Tex-Mex!?

Had a pretty good day Saturday. We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, got tickets for “Spamalot” at TKTS, ate dinner in the East Village, saw “Spamalot”, and then partied in the East Village at Beauty Bar.

While walking to the Brooklyn Bridge we stopped at a Comic store and I picked up “World War Hulk” for the train ride back to Harrisburg. I’ve been looking all over for this thing and finally found it here. Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is pretty sweet. Lots of people do it! So many people do it gets kind of crowded so I ended up walking in the bike lane to avoid people. It’s also 125 years old this year.

I decided since I was in New York we needed to see a show. You can buy half price tickets at TKTS which is by the Pier and another at Time Square. Half price tickets where still $59 each! And they don’t have all the shows but it’s a good deal. We tried to decide between Spamalot, Chorus Line, and August Osage County. We decided to see Spamalot since I’ve wanted to see it for awhile now.

The rest of the day we just killed time until the show that started at 8pm. Ended up walking through China Town, Little Italy, and Times Square. We ate at a place called Tiny’s I think. They have good Salads. We found the Young Designers Market that has lots of clothes designed up and coming new designers. I picked a cool Ski Iraq t-shirt from this dude at Dangerous Breed. Spamalot was good but not great. Pretty short for a musical too. Only 2 hours and 20 minutes. Half of it is the same as the movie and the other half is new material. It’s worth seeing if you’re a fan (or not) of Monty Python.

Katie and I then met up with her friend Sarah at the East Village at a place called Beauty Bar. We made friends with some Phd and Architect students from Colombia. We also met their Danish friends; I’m down with the Danish, such a nice people. They all work at Harvard or MIT. Fucking smart Danish.

FYI bars stay open till 4am. Oui.

Had a pretty chill-axe day today. Slept in the went to lunch with Katie to some place in Brooklyn. Can't remember the name but they have good panini sandwhiches. Obviously this was way too much work so afterwards we came back to her place and took power naps. For dinner we went to Cafe Steinhof, it's an Austrian cafe/bar. Our waitress had man hands, well it turns out she was a man. Katie and I each got two beers. I had the Brooklyn East Indian Pale Ale, got to try the local beers! We both ate Trout and Veggie Chowder. I don't like clams or muscles but this chowder I can dig. After dinner we went and walked around Prospect Park. New Yorkers really like their parks. For the evening activity we met up with Katie's friends Sarah, Sarah and Horhay. We all took the F line train to ConeyIsland. ConeyIsland is like a permanent carnival on the beach. It's kind of trashy in a cheeky way. There we went to see the Burlesque at the Beach. The show was called "This or That!" a Burlesque Game Show and they film it for TV. I'm guessing it's for public access TV here in NYC. They took 8 volunteers from the audience two of which where Katie and Sarah. Sarah ended up getting chosen with another guy to do the game show. They had to do crazy things like switch clothes with a Burlesque dancer, throw gummy organs at each other, shove as many gummy worms in their mouths as possible and finally each cake off of the Burlesque girls. Sarah won a Rabbid Rabit for all her troubles, Google it to find out what it is but not at work. In between the contests they had Burlesque dancing routines.

Looks like Blogger made it easy to up load pictures. I'll put some up later.

Hello from Brooklyn New York! I’m here visiting my sister over Memorial Day weekend. No plans other than just hanging out. Hopefully I’ll get to see my cousin Michael, his girlfriend Julie, and their dog Bacon while I’m here too.

I have a problem. I know everybody who has been in a relationship or is currently in a relationship has had this same problem. There is a movie out that I want to see but I’ll get in trouble if I don’t see it with Melanie first. I know you’ve also had this happen to you! It should have some kind of name….”Movie Conundrum?” Indiana Jones is out and I really want to see it. I could wait until I get back to Dallas but just tonight Katie said she wants to see it. I’m screwed.

Last week I got to drive a Toyota Prius. One of the managers on the project rented one as their rental car. I know it gets great gas mileage but I didn’t really like. There are 3 things I didn’t like. First and foremost the rear window is split by a horizontal piece of metal/plastic. This makes looking out the back hard. Second, the LCD display got annoying. I don’t care when the electric motor is running! There is probably a way to turn it off. And third, there is a button for “On” and a button for “Park.” I know it’s just different but I’m use to my car having a normal gear shifter.

The day after I posted that I think they should build a large windmill farm in the Texas Panhandle I read in the Dallas Morning News that Boone Pickens is building the largest wind farm in Texas up by Pampa, TX which is East of Amarillo. Cy let me know about it too. (Hey Cy, I haven’t seen you since my 30th birthday!)

Well I’m back on the fence again about weather I want to get my MBA from UTD even though I’m already accepted. Now that I’m back on a project I feel less like taking classes. I’ve also met some people here on the project that have an MBA from or are going to a more prestigious school than say UTD like the University of Chicago, University of Michigan, ect. I’ve always wanted to get my MBA from the University of Texas at Austin so I think I’ll try and apply for that next year. If I don’t get in then I’ll settle for UTD. In the meantime I plan on taking at least two classes at UTD, one in SAP ABAP programming and the other for Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. Accenture said they would pay for it.

This last weekend I went to El Paso with Melanie. Both of her (full) brothers graduated from UTEP. Good job Brian and Eddie! I had a good time. Melanie has a very large and close family who are all great! Make sure to hug everybody when you leave or people will get upset. I ate way too much! I think all I did was eat all weekend. Saturday night the day of graduation we went to dinner with Melanie’s Dad’s side of the family at State Line BBQ. It’s right on the boarder of New Mexico and Texas. Sunday we went to Melanie’s grandparents on her Mom’s side. They had a pot luck lunch and again I ate too much. In fact I’m still full!

On my way to El Paso I sat by the window seat. I saw Abilene from 30,000 ft which made me miss the old days. What was cool is that there are now Windmills out there. What’s crazy is that the Windmills go from Abilene to Sweetwater! I think this is pretty cool and West Texas is a great place to put Windmills. They should put them all over the Panhandle, it’s windy as shit in Lubbock! Texas is the #1 wind powered state in the U.S. At least we’re doing something right.

Tonight I went to an Indian food restaurant with a bunch of people I use to work with in Michigan: Raj, Durga, Annie and Erica. We all worked together in Michigan and now again here in Harrisburg. Raj’s birthday was last Sunday so we treated him to his choice. Can’t remember the name of the place but it was something local. It was BYOB and we all finished off 3 bottles of wine pretty easy. We just hung out and talked until 10pm and where the last ones to leave. We talked to the owner as we where leaving and she tough Erica was Indian even though she’s Hispanic. I think it’s funny because the same thing happened to Melanie at work with one of her coworkers.

I haven’t met any other Mellinger’s yet but supposedly they all live in Pennsylvania. A lot of them are Mennonites. According to my parents there is a Mellinger Church out hers somewhere that I’ll need to go visit. Also my great great great grate grandfather is buried out here. He fought in the American Revolution. Of course this could all be false until I verify it. I’ll let you know when I do.

Hello from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania! I’m working on a project up here now. Suppose to be here until December 2008 but I have a feeling it will be longer. Everybody here thinks Harrisburg is boring which so far it kind of is. But I think it’s a very nice town/city, I describe it as Colonial. Harrisburg is the capital of Pennsylvania if you didn’t know. Tonight I drove by the Capital and there is a road that is almost all churches that are Gothic style architecture. Very cool looking. There are a bunch of bars/restaurants on 2nd street. I’ve been to Firehouse Bar so far which use to be a firehouse of course. The National Civil War Museum is here which I want to check out. Hershey, PA is close too where Hershey Chocolate came from! I plan on taking a tour of the factory there sometime too. I’ll try to post some picture in the future from my new digital camera. I broke the screen on my last one and instead of fixing it I just bought a newer one, a Cannon SD790 I believe is what it is called. 10 Mega Pixel with anti-shake. Thank you government rebate check! The rest goes to gas. :(

Quick blurb on stocks, I total missed the Marvel (MVL) jump from $24 to $34. I really wanted to buy this stock because I like their comic books so much. I was expecting Iron Man to be a dud but it’s a hit! By the way I haven’t seen it yet. What’s so good for Marvel is that they self financed this movie so all the profit are their own. If the new Hulk movie sucks then their stock will go back down and then maybe I’ll buy some.
